The Hottest Spring 2014 Trends At Milan Fashion Week

When you think Milan Fashion Week you think of haute style and couture classics sashaying down the runway. It's the quintessential of the word “extravagant”! The week is full of high-end designers premiering their latest creations. We drool and admire the designs and garments. Milan is a place where we go to get dazzled and inspired. Here are some hot spring 2014 styles that premiered in Milan’s Fashion Week.Every year you get designers on the runway ready to give us their spring rendition. We must therefore not forget how the all-white trend captured our hearts over and over again. You can never be tired of the white classics. Perhaps it’s a reminder that, at the end of the dreary winter, the light continues. Blumarine charmed us with an angelic gown and BBC noted that it was “cream bandeau gown embellished with white detail and train, for the Blumarine light yellow chiffon strapless beaded bridesmaid dresses ready-to-wear collection”. You can’t go wrong with white for your spring/summer looks. It’s fresh and crisp and gives an instant lift to your wardrobe.

Spring leather pieces emerged from the Salvatore Ferragamo collection. The leather was exciting and colorful with vibrant depth and texture. When you think leather, sometimes you think dull colors and darker earth tones. Ferragamo went above the expectations of leather by giving the garments shape and feminine appeal. You can’t have spring without the announcement of bloom and life. Milan Fashion Week wrote a love song to spring by debuting floral influences from the international realm. The unique trend about floral this year is that: it went 3D. Floral is not on a three dimension look as opposed to last years prints being printed right on the garment. I believe we can expect this look to take off for the spring because of its romantic appeal and homage to nature. We live in a 3D world and what better way to display that than by giving flowers a realistic appearance. Marni definitely took the not so minimalist appeal. In ABC news, Marni admits to “Silencing the urge to minimize”.Noble chiffon square beaded Embroidery long Evening dresses Another Milan Fashion Week hot trend is the stripe. This look was captured by several collections with different designers. It took on a life of it’s own with a variety of looks appearing throughout the shows.chiffon Unique Shoulder Empire Beaded Prom Dresses“From Dolce & Gabbana’s Sicilian sack dress, to Fendi’s 3D geometry”, this look awakens something in our fashion hearts.

The stripes give off a very modern look with the diverse colors and cuts. However, designers like Burberry Prosum chose to go with solid colors palettes layered over prints for their men’s collection. Men’s Health advised men that, when it comes to patterns, “certain eye catching styles are not for the timid.Sheath/Column Ruching Blue Chiffon Prom dresses Depending on your appetite for attention, make your statement with pattern.Skirts took this week of fashion by a storm. They were everywhere. I can’t emphasize how much domination they took on the runway. This will be a staple for the spring. There were a few designers like Dolce and Gabbana who took a dramatic approach with colors and structures. There were some like MaxMara who took a chiffon Low-high Ruched Knee-length Cocktail Dresses more classic approach with the pencil skirt and more of a solid color look.Get ahead with your spring style by looking at the Milan Fashion Week premier. If you’re looking for a fashion company to start up your spring wardrobe, there is always a hidden gem that will take you straight from the runway into your closet. The idea is to find a way to customize what you see on the runway into something wearable and indicative of your personality. The rest is all about having fun with fashion.

Setting the trends for the high street in 2014

Start homing in on the designers’ themes for next spring. Lisa Haynes rounds up London Fashion Week. The Beckhams partied together in matching black tuxes,Simply Chiffon sheath evening dresses Cate Blanchett provided the Hollywood glamour and One Direction’s Harry Styles proved himself to be a front row regular.London Fashion Week has well and truly found its (designer-clad) feet on the global style map. As well as being a celebrity stomping ground, the five-day event is a stylish peek ahead into the emerging trends for next year’s spring and summer season. With designers showcasing similar concepts, it’s highly likely these catwalk looks will be making their way onto a high street near you next spring. If you thought blush pink was a flash-in-the-pan trend for autumn, think again. Once again, pink proved to be a catwalk show-stopper shade, adding a feminine touch to countless runways. To reiterate the point, designers often styled their pink hues top-to-toe with matching shoes. Takes on the look varied from stark and structured at J. JS Lee, who accessorised models with eye-popping pink pouts, through to elegant and ladylike at Temperley, who paraded jacquard long dresses with rose florals against blush backdrops.Other catwalk hits included Burberry’s peony pink lace, Whistles’ powder pink separates and Richard Nicoll’s bubblegum pink layers.A spring season isn’t complete without perennial florals but for spring ‘14 designers have cultivated a crafty look with 3D buds.Lifelike blooms were achieved with tactile handcrafted petals for a super-natural twist on traditional prints.John Rocha created a dreamy look, with red blossoms appliqued onto white sheer georgette fabric, topped off with a matching hat for a top-to-toe floral fandango.Pink Chiffon a-line strapless flower bridesmaid dresses

Matthew Williamson adopted a fresher approach, with lemon yellow daisy blooms used as statement panels on separates, including a jacket and skirt where the blooms became gradually more pronounced towards the hemline.Say hello to the fabric of spring ‘14, lace. Move on from gothic autumnal blacks with fresh whites, pastels and even teal.Every season there’s a twist on the traditional Burberry trench, and this season it was lace, with the theme continuing with separates in mouth-watering powdery pale lavenders and mint greens.Erdem’s ethereal designs came in just two colours – black or white – and combined the most delicate lace with floaty chiffon trains for a ghostly feel. House of Holland’s use of lace was less traditional, appearing as teal trims on silk slips and teamed with denim to create contrast sleeves and hems.Prints have moved on from magic eye-esque graphics to downright quirky, with designs that that require a second look.On first glance, Holly Fulton’s pieces looked like pretty florals, but up close they were bold fish prints – some pieces in goldfish tangerine and others in stark monochrome.House of Holland toughened up beautiful pastel florals with tattoo prints,Chiffon A-line V-neck Sky Blue Beaded Prom dress inspired by the tattoo parlours of LA’s Venice Beach. Other designers,White Chiffon A-line Sweedheart Beaded Rhinestone Evening Dresses such as Preen and Markus Lupfer, stitched together multiple prints for a contemporary patchwork effect. Markus Lupfer pieced together floral prints, while Preen mixed blooms with angular shapes of block colour. ‘The’ perfect print for the indecisive.Play peekaboo with spring ‘14’s sheer fabrics, which designers used to create exaggerated hemlines and transparent panels.Sheer mesh and tulle inserts instantly modernise a silhouette, breaking up the proportions. Richard Nicoll experimented with ‘summer layering’, using transparent fabrics both over and under minimalist pieces to give outfits a sci-fi,Chiffon A-line/Princess Empire Beaded Prom Dress contemporary look. Peter Pilotto used the same concept but with full skirts, using sheer fabrics that prevented them from looking bulky. Jasper Conran’s elegant white separates were punctuated with bold mesh panels that looked like modern-day stripes.

Beauty Trends 2014 I White Nails

The stark white nail beauty trend is something fresh and fun and the perfect colour for spring 2014 for its modern yet neutral effect! We love this minimalist trend, which has been gaining momentum since last year, because sometimes simple, well-manicured nails are all that we need.2013 Wholesale Cheap Bride DressesWhite nails complimented the styles of the runways adding a classic and feminine touch to the looks—creating a light and contemporary appearance for the spring creations. The runways toned down their nails. Designers like Carolina Herrera embraced milky nude colours, Calla and Band of Outsiders also tapped into this trend and at Nanette Lepore we saw models with short classic white nails in Blanc by Essie. The trend has swiftly translated to the streets and celebrities worldwide have adopted white nails, including fashion icons Rihanna,New Strapless Chiffon Short/Mini Beaded Cocktail Dresses Scarlett Johansson, Alexa Chung and Jennifer Lopez. One of the hottest beauty trends emerging from New York, London, Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks was undeniably the orange lips! From matte orange to electric neon tangerine, say goodbye to red lipstick and hello to the orange hues that are designed to wake you up for the spring season!Rag & Bone are known for their edgy designs and they once again made history by debuting the first-ever matte orange lip, in collaboration with Revlon Global Artistic Director Gucci Westman. The trend clearly set for the looks to come.

Orange lips were the brightest accessory on the spring 2014 runways, complimenting the models complexions and adding a pop of colour to the fashion. Approved by designers like Prabal Gurung, DKNY, Suno , Marissa Webb, John Galliano all joined the orange wave and Creatures of the Wind contrasted the orange lip with green eyeshadow.Silver taffeta one shoulder A-Line Beaded evening dressOne Shoulder Beaded Chiffon Crystal Prom DressesWhat we love about orange lips is that you don’t just have to wear it with base tones, as the designer’s paired it with everything from neutral basics to extravagant floral prints. We cannot forget the hair trends for the Spring/Summer 14 runways and it’s the Wet Hair Look, as seen on the runways of Phillip Lim, Band Of Outsiders, Herve Ledger and Theyskens Theory, that truly stood out. There is something edgy yet effortless about this style – not only does it look like you have been enjoying the sea-spray on the beach; you’re still able to retain the modernity and stylishness of the catwalk.

The effortlessness to this look is what is so appealing and why it has been adopted as one of the hottest trends on the streets! Why? The look is versatile and can be worn in a variety of ways, to best suit your style – from textured to slick, cute curls and twists, side partings,Graceful A-line Beads Halter Empire Prom Dress low ponytails and even completely swept back looks. The best part about this trend is that it can work for just about any hair length as well, and will compliment your makeup, because your hair will not be demanding all of the attention, like so many hairstyles these days do.Just remember that there is a fine line between greasy hair and the “wet look” so don’t take this as an opportunity to be lazy and not wash your hair, or overuse the gel. Take inspiration from celebrities such as Penelope Cruz, Emma Watson, Amanda Seyfried, Rihanna, and Zoe Saldana, who have conquered this style perfectly, for a nonchalantly cool look.

Los Angeles' fashion shows display vibrant diversity

Among the highlights at the Fashion Council shows? Body-conscious dresses covered in delicate line drawings of roses or embossed floral patterns, with brightly colored contrast piping by Hollywood favorite Katharine Kidd; Moroccan-inspired paisley and gold foiled lace boho gowns, maxi-dresses and miniskirts by Odylyne designer Stephanie Lampkin; and black and white marble-patterned dresses, tone-on-tone tie-dye pieces and softly-draped white knit dresses and vests from Inka Sherman's ISM Mode collection.A pair of newcomers (winners of the Fashion Council's Open Runway competition) also had strong, if more arty, showings: Amabelle Aguiluz's collection was an exquisitely delicate-looking patchwork of stitched-together knits, and Rhode Island School of Design grad Rose La Grua's grab bag of plaids and washed-to-pale-blue denim pieces had a punk-street-wear vibe.Style Fashion Week at L.Purple Scoop Capped Applique beaded Empire Prom DressA. Live featured Ina Soltani's Old Hollywood-inspired little black dresses and glitzy mermaid gowns laden with sequins, chiffon Flower One-shoulder Draped Prom dresses crystals and ostrich feather trim and Malan Breton's sharply tailored, slim men's suiting in colorful brocades,Satin V-neck Beaded A-line Sweep Train Evening Dress a testament to his training at heritage British menswear brand Turnbull and Asser. Many of Michael Costello's softly structured gowns seemed ready for the stage or the Hollywood spotlight, even if some came off as too costumey.

At Concept Los Angeles in West Hollywood,High-grade Yellow A-line Chiffon Beaded One Shoulder Prom Dress Matthew Mathiasen, a 2009 graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising whose fashion world CV includes stints at Elmer Ave. and Betsey Johnson, showed a collection that varied from sporty street wear — shorts, skirts and zip-front crop tops layered under hoodies — to glittery sequined sleeveless mini-dresses and a curve-hugging floor-length gown.Mike Vensel (who also happens to be the organizer of Concept) decided to showcase his fashion line and abstract expressionist artwork — together — by having models cross the room, pick up one of his paintings from a pile and place it on the floor on the other side of the room. This bit of performance art, Vensel said in his show notes, "explores evolution and chance by allowing the models to select art they find most interesting and arranging it in an evolving sculpture that focuses on the progression of time and changing tastes. Gimmicky? Sure. But it was more interesting than simply staring at a staid tableaux of models and afforded the audience ample opportunity to see the clothes close up — a collection that included a chiffon fabric made from recycled plastic bottles and some hand-painted, one-of-a-kind dresses.

Finally, the trade group Fashion Business Incorporated's annual fashion show at Union Station featured a runway show with nine designer collections, including Liberty Sage's summertime riffs on tuxedo dressing and jewel-covered racer-back dresses; Johnny Was' bohemian patchwork pants and maxi-dresses; and graffiti-print leggings, reptile-patterned dolphin shorts and logo hoodies from Chiffon A-line/Princess Empire Beaded Evening Dressaction sports brand Continuous. But the woman of the hour was swim and resort wear designer Shay Todd, who took home the MAFI Award (Moss Adams Fashion Innovator Award) and showed a selection of her pieces, including twilight blue, dip-dye sundresses, desert sunset print caftans and a burnt-clay-colored, one-piece swimsuit with cutouts and a tassel belt that brought to mind faraway lands.

Is there hope among emerging St. Louis fashion designers?

After 10 nights of runway shows, St. Louis Fashion Week has ended, and attendees are cautiously optimistic that an up-and-comer from St. Louis will actually make the transition to full-time designer.Fern Mallis, who is responsible for making New York Fashion Week what it is today, came to town as a special guest to present the award during Project: Design!, a talent showcase of emerging designers. Some of the designers were from St. Louis but the contest is open to designers from anywhere. Featured this year were a $10,000 prize package plus a special one-on-one consultation with Mallis.Chiffon Lace Backless Column Long Sleeves bride dressIronically, Mallis, who was not on the judging committee, flew into town from New York and ultimately gave the prize to a designer from New York, including a $2,500 cash award.“I didn’t vote for the winner, but if I had, I would have been torn,” Mallis said. “I was really conflicted.”She was in sync with the judging panel. The winning Miita Collection by Angela Brugioni was decided in a runoff with Q Liu by Qun Liu of St. Louis. Because Brugioni isn’t based in St. Louis, Liu was awarded some local elements of the prize including a year of studio rental. The Miita Collection was cohesive and polished. The color palette was soft with feminine whites and off-whites, but the designs had a sophisticated edge that was aptly on-trend, with athletic influences, chiffon Unique Shoulder Empire Beaded Prom Dresses sheer panels and unexpected textiles. The translucent window-pane raincoats were a hit, and the shimmering sequin looks and tasteful peek-a-boo elements made for a ready-to-wear-now eye-catching collection.Meanwhile, Q Liu was a surprisingly artistic collection that was desirable and admirable but seemed impossible to mass produce. Liu offered a collection of felted dresses that were constructed with three-dimensional patterns. The process of felting incorporates nonwoven fabric, in this case wool that is matted together by heat, moisture and pressure.

Anyone who appreciates the structure of clothing would have been astounded by the fact that her swingy sleeveless dresses and jackets, some of which included pockets, brown chiffon High-Neck beaded evening dresses were constructed without one seam. Nothing was sewed. And the designs on the front of her garments were also created by felting.“It was incredible. I was like what do you mean water, this is like pizza dough, you’re spreading out wool and water and making a dress,” Mallis said. “It’s so completely original, but at the end of the day, how do you make that commercial?”Liu created wearable art that could be appreciated by fashion connoisseurs and people who just appreciate something cute and easy to wear. But because the process to create the garments is so labor intensive and specialized, the starting price point of $500 is a bit high for broad appeal. And the washing instructions for felt are a little tricky. And that’s the conundrum of crowning the most deserving emerging designer. Do you pick someone with an accessible, sellable aesthetic or do you invest in someone doing something innovative? If a fashion contest doesn’t celebrate someone who pushes boundaries, is it doing a disservice to the design community?Mallis shrugged and said she saw the issue from both sides. She appreciates and celebrates the artistry of runway collections that aren’t intended to be mass produced,2013 Wholesale Cheap Bride Dresses but …“At the end of the day, you sell or you die,” Mallis said.High-grade One Shoulder A-line Chiffon Beaded Prom Dress “Fashion is not art; you are making clothes, and people have to buy those clothes to wear.”And though she saw the appeal of Liu’s collection, she saw the practicality of the Miita Collection. That doesn’t mean Liu can’t be viable; it just means that it may be harder.“Designers really have to decide what they want to be,” Mallis said. “Do they want to go into business or do they want to be artists?”

Take a hike: Designers head to the great outdoors

For many people, a couple of nights of booze-addled sleep at a festival is the closest they get to the great outdoors, while others may throw themselves into hiking with reckless abandon – figuratively only, hopefully. Regardless of your levels of physical fitness, there’s plenty of styling nous to be picked up from the sort of chap who is familiar with the business end of a crampon. At Topman Design, Gordon Richardson’s design team put a fashion spin on traditionally function-led items. Parkas were oversized or cropped and saturated with juicy shades of orange and red, inspired by an odyssey to Tibet. The technical met the sublime as waxed fabrics, proofed cotton and gilded leather compass-holders embellished the narrative of the journey, as did the influence of Tibetan printed boiled wool and abstract intarsia Ohm symbols. At Louis Vuitton, Kim Jones took inspiration from the mountains. The men’s studio and style director succinctly analysed the creation of a collection for the luxury house: “A collection is often an actual journey for us; it comprises what you take with you and what you bring back, both physically and mentally, from the experience.Literally speaking, the journey to autumn/winter 13’s quilted parkas, hiking boots and Sherpa-inspired accessories involved: “Travelling to the Himalayas for research. It was the mountain kingdom of Bhutan that still had that mystery surrounding it... it feels so exotic, almost from another time.”Another brand taking a trip back in time is Bally, which throughout the year has been celebrating the 60th anniversary of the historic first ascent of Mount Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay – the latter shod in Bally. To mark the occasion, light pink chiffon One-Shoulder beaded prom dresses the Swiss brand recreated the duo’s base camp in a gated garden in central London, to showcase replica artefacts such as Tenzing’s reindeer boots.

While the daily commute is often challenging, it hardly rivals climbing the highest mountain in the world. Bally’s Everest collection is much more functional than just fashion, then, with three styles of boots based on traditional trekking and alpine styles.New Strapless Chiffon Short/Mini Beaded Cocktail DressesChristopher Raeburn is a designer whose whole aesthetic germinated from his outward bound youth. Since he first launched his brand in 2008, Raeburn has consistently produced the sort of technically led designs that get fashion-loving adventurers in a spin. Throughout outerwear, woollens and accessories, chiffon Elegant one shoulder beaded A-line long Celebrity Dresses function continuously informs Raeburn’s work, which has built a loyal following. This season may have had a naval theme – with a bold use of red by the designer, alongside stripes and map-print silks teamed with indigo jeans – but these garments are intended to be multi-functional.At Hermès, menswear artistic director Véronique Nichanian proposed a suitably luxurious take on the trail. Accents of yellow, orange and claret shot through the finest wool and cashmere pieces as slim trousers, fine-gauge intarsia striped knits and, perhaps most charmingly,Satin Tulle Strapless Applique Beaded Mermaid Evening Dresses high-visibility laces woven through the hook-and-eye fastenings of hiking boots. The usual clumpiness of such footwear had been refined by long-time collaborator Pierre Hardy, making them not only highly covetable, but no doubt ridiculously comfortable, too, as is the Hermès way.Where the catwalks lead, the high street soon follows and the practicality of this trend fits in with a recent re-emergence of more traditional, outdoorsy dress that sees men everywhere from Dalston to the Dales wearing fisherman jumpers and flannel, not to mention the now obligatory Chris Bonington beard.Chunky sweaters will soon be coming into season and natural fibres such as wool – or cashmere if you can stretch to it – are the best way to avoid feeling frazzled andA-line Ruching Ivory beaded Chiffon Prom dressessweaty as you go about your day. Down-filled parkas are proving popular with more than just Mods, while cords and similar soft-textured trousers are generally better at keeping out the chill than denim. They’re more flexible, too, should you be planning to enjoy the local land in all its autumnal glory.

MidEast fashion designers need to develop unique identity

Middle Eastern designers are trying to be “either Parisian or American” but need to find their own identity to gain an edge, according to Fashion Forward co-creator Ramzi Nakad.According to Bain & Company, the Middle East was now the tenth largest in the $271bn global luxury goods market, with sales exceeding $8.Sheath/Column Ruching Gold Chiffon Prom dresses13bn in 2011, with Dubai alone commanded 30 percent of the sales pie.Rakad, who created Fashion Forward with business partner Bong Guerrero, said Asian designers had managed to differentiate themselves and create a profile where people could “automatically identify an Asian designer New Spaghetti Straps Chiffon Asymmetrical Blue Beaded Cocktail Dresseswhether they were Japanese or Chinese”.“Middle Eastern (designers) are still trying to be either Parisian or American, but a lot of them are trying to say ‘how can we go above and beyond that’,” he said in an interview published in Arabian Business. He added: “For any investor to come and invest in a Middle Eastern brand, you have to show the edge against any Parisian or American brand.“Right now, while we have a lot of great potential,Silver taffeta one shoulder A-Line Beaded evening dress that unique identity is yet to be identified.light pink chiffon one shoulder beading flower prom dresses”After its inaugural event in April with 18 designers, Fashion Forward Season Two, from October 15-18, has been bolstered to 21 catwalk shows, as well as a Fashion Assembly of high-profile industry names and a new space, The Garden, for non-apparel designers.

Guerrero said the region had been lacking in the manufacturing sector, but it remained to be seen whether this part of the fashion industry would find a home in Dubai. However, he did believe the Design District, a government project announced in June as the city’s next purpose-designed business hub, would provide a home for “a whole eco-system of fashion designers and product designers”.The district, of which the $1.08bn first phase is slated for completion in 2015, will be operated by TECOM Investments, a member of Dubai Holding.Rakad said it will also enable a smoother licensing process for potential businesses.“It’s a tried and tested model in Dubai,” he said, referring to the effect Media City had on the film industry, Internet City had on IT companies and DIFC district had in attracting stockmarket players.“The fact that Dubai has now decided to focus on fashion could only mean that in a few years time Dubai will be the fashion hub for,New A-line Strapless Chiffon Pink Beading Long Prom Dresses at least, the region.”
